Sustainable IT Workforce Planning Using Machine Learning
Abstract
Balancing workforce demand and resource allocation in IT projects is critical for efficiency and sustainability. This paper introduces a machine learning model for workforce planning, leveraging historical project data and skill requirements to predict resource needs and optimize team compositions. The system employs natural language processing (NLP) and regression models to analyze skill gaps and recommend upskilling strategies. Implementation in a global IT firm improved project delivery efficiency by 18% and reduced hiring costs by 12%. The research aligns with SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth and SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure.
